Connie seems remarkably healthy after her lonely ordeal in the shipping containerMarine inspectors from the United States Coast Guard this week discovered a dog trapped high up in a stack of containers at the Port of Houston.
Connie the Container Dog became a national celebrity after news broke of her rescue from a shipping container that was about 25 ft. (8 m) up a stack.
According to media reports and posts and videos on social media, Connie had been trapped in the container for at least a week without food and water before her barks and scratches were noticed by the inspectors from U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston.
After hearing the ruckus, a container crane was used to lower the noisy container from the stack.
Upon opening the container, it was revealed it was full of scrapped cars (and Connie) and was waiting to be shipped overseas, a trip the pupster would have been unlikely to survive.
After being taken to the Pasadena Animal Shelter to recover for a few days, Connie flew with Pilot N Paws to Forever Changed Animal Rescue in Maryland, where she was immediately checked by a vet.
Shortly after her arrival, Forever Changed Animal Rescue posted on Facebook: "Her x-rays showed some minor concerns, and when the ultrasound was performed, SURPRISE CONNIE IS PREGNANT!!!
"Connie will be residing with our veterinarian through pregnancy and we will continue to update on her and her babies."
The shelter has been inundated with offers to adopt Connie.
