Hyster-Yale Q3 results
Ohio, United States
Ohio-headquartered Hyster-Yale Materials Handling has reported mixed Q3 financial results with a 2% year-on-year increase in revenues to USD1.016 billion, but significantly lower net income and operating profit.
The company reports net income dropped 52% y-o-y to USD17.2 million while operating profit fell 44% to USD 33 million y-o-y after “exceptionally strong Q3 2023 results”.
Hyster Yale says the improved revenue is the result of higher sales prices and favourable sales in the Americas.
Subsidiary Bolzoni did particularly well recording a 114% rise in operating profit which it says is due to product sales wth higher margins.
The company expects revenue and operating profit from its forklift division to be “roughly comparable in Q4.
Sixth stage of forklift safety campaign rolled out
United Kingdom
The sixth stage of the UK Material Handling Association’s (UKMHA) National Forklift Safety Day is being rolled out this week with a focus on learning what the root cause is of any forklift safety incident to prevent it happening again.
This year the UKMHA opted to roll-out a forklift safety awareness campaign over seven months rather than dedicating one day to highlighting the issue. It has done so with its motto to “make every day national forklift safety day”.
“When a forklift incident or accident happens, it is essential for the people involved to gain a thorough understanding of both the root cause and the contributory factors,” the UKMHA states. “Doing so will allow them to determine the actions that must be taken to reduce the risk of similar incidents occurring in the future.”
The UKMHA has shared a number of resources to help organisations and individuals with investigating incidents. These can be found on the UKMHA website.
