The award-winning Jungheinrich Logistics Interface. |
Jungheinrich AG was among the winners of the Best Product Awards presented at the official opening ceremony of LogiMAT 2015 in Stuttgart, Germany last week.
An independent jury of experts and journalists examined 91 entries for the awards and selected three winners: Kaufmann Bausysteme GmbH, Jungheinrich AG and the RFID business division of Kathrein Sachsen GmbH.
In the software, communication and IT category, the prize went to Jungheinrich AG for its universal data interface, the Jungheinrich Logistics Interface.
To manage and control intralogistics processes, warehouse management systems and other IT systems are used. The processes can be partially automated if there is a corresponding interface between the truck and the IT system; the Jungheinrich Logistics Interface is the name of this universal interface software (middleware).
In the order picking, conveying, lifting and storage technology category, the prize went to Kaufmann Bausysteme GmbH for its high-bay warehouse made from wood.?
Rapidly rising prices on the steel market has led, in the short term, to a price hike in storage construction. Kaufmann Bausysteme's solution is the world's first high-bay warehouse built entirely out of wood. This offers advantages over steel, including a fixed-price guarantee for several months and a high degree of prefabrication in the factory. Additionally, wood is compatible with food storage and also resistant to chemical reactions with substances like salt, which can dramatically impair the durability of steel.
The prize In the identification, packaging and loading technology and load securing category went to the RFID business division of Kathrein Sachsen GmbH for its new-style ARU-CSB-ELC antenna-reader unit with circular switch beam.
This is a high-performance auto ID system with automatic detection of direction, based on conventional UHF RFID readers and transponders. The system detects dynamically the movement of the UHF RFID transponders that are within the operating range of the system and can recognise which direction they are moving in. This enables the automatic tracking of goods. Kathrein Sachsen claims the typical logistics applications of booking goods into and out of warehouses, loading containers at dock doors on to and off trucks, or direction-identification of pallets on forklifts are reliably and cost-effectively handled by this system.
The Best Product Award was launched 12 years ago by the organiser of LogiMAT, EUROEXPO Messe-und- Kongress-GmbH, to highlight the achievements of its exhibitors, many of which are small and medium-sized companies. The winners received a plaque and a certificate.
