ArcBest's Vaux Vision forklift systemUS integrated logistics company ArcBest has launched its Vaux Vision 3D perception technology which uses sensors placed directly on forklifts allowing them to handle loads of different shapes and sizes to “streamline the materials handling" process.
ArcBest explains the sensors are activated when a forklift lifts a load, capturing dimensions, images and “deep shipment insight on the go” which it says can enhance operational efficiencies.
Operators receive real-time feedback with data stored in the cloud.
Other features include the ability to capture images of freight during pick and drop utilising AI to determine attributes such as stability, fragility and tracking.
ArcBest’s chief innovation officer Dennis Anderson says Vaux Vision now joins its suite of tech solutions including the Vaux Freight Movement System and Vaux Smart Autonomy, which have also been updated
“Accurate freight dimensions have become increasingly important, but standard static dimensioners can be cost-prohibitive and inefficient for many businesses,” Anderson adds. “With its low barrier to entry and ease of implementation, Vaux Vision offers a flexible solution to this challenge.”
The Vaux Vision system is in its pilot stage with Anderson saying this will give them “critical insights as we refine the technology”.
ArcBest’s Vaux Freight Movement System has been updated to include a new decking system configuration enabling stacking of previously un-stackable freight.
