Showed up and customer said truck was dead, said theat last few days has rolled over hard starting first thing in the morning. Battery was junk so installed a new battery. Checkec code history and had all the typical codes that come up when the battery takes a crap, cleared history and tried starting truck but wont even crank over, code F-01 showing on the display code has to do with VCM memory i already looked it up and read it.
Checked all the fuses and relays and all check out good, everything on the VCM connections look good no broken wires or pins....am wondering if when the battery failed it wiped the memory out of the VCM? Anyone else ever have this code and what was the cause/cure??????

I don't know if this will fix it but l had the same problem about a year ago a customer got a truck at a auction and the dash had that code on it and no crank some one tried to fix it they had all the covers off and pulled the plug to the vcm on the right step l was going to buy a new vcm because l was thinking the memory was bad but l went into the dash and reset all the setting made sure that nothing was changed one thing l found my truck had the seat switch jumped so l by set the truck for no seat switch after that l shut the key off for a few minutes and the code was gone and it started up.still running today never had it happen again l was thinking maybe it sat and lost memory from the battery. not sure hope this helps.
Did you check all the fuses? These machines blow a fuse when oxygen sensor wires chafe against steel mount. You will have no crank
check area near O2 sensor plug carefully
