Discussion:
Clark C25 Tier III no spark

I changed out the ignition coil as there was no spark and a large hole burned in the top of the coil. With new coil still no spark. I checked for 12v at the plug at the bottom of the coil and have 0 volts. Checked and changed out fuse. Swapped relays and still nothing. Any ideas?

Where the harness is clamped to the wall is where it burned. I checked the rest of the wiring there and I could tell that the way is was secured probably started a break in the wire which then got hot and burned through. The other wires there also had "crimp" marks but seem to be ok.

hello guys.
Joe, burned wire be careful. see the likely cause of what happened. not to burn new part, I use a light bulb in series 12V 100W during testing. if this light well, there are short, if it is off, the wiring is ok. see if there was some short, wear a wire to the frame and if there is some protection to the ignition circuit. I ride one of these cases and always start with fuse, 10. warms, increasing the fuse. a hug

There was a service bulletin on a grounding problem with that coil. You want me to send it to you?

Got it! The coil signal wire burned halfway between the secm and the coil. Back in service and out of my hair!

The solenoid and starter turn over so I would assume the keyswitch is working correctly. It appears that the crank tach input goes into the coil as well but not sure how this affects it or how to check that part.

Check for voltage at fuse input terminal and continue to trace back? How's the keyswitch look, is it putting out ignition voltage?
