ABOUT US : From the executive director

A personal message from the Executive Director

Forkliftaction.com grew from my experience in operating my own forklift sales business for 15 years. As a business manager, I needed diverse information quickly. I managed equipment sales and large rental fleets and serviced clients who operated different brands of forklifts, container handlers and port equipment. I wanted to know where sales markets were, what buyers wanted, and where to find alternate suppliers of spare parts at the best prices. As an importer and exporter of new and used equipment, I needed to know what was going on in my industry, where to find used equipment and what new product distribution opportunities were available. I also wanted to know about trade events around the world.

This information was vital to give my customers the best possible service. But there was no single source. Information came from years of experience, industry gossip and a plethora of industry magazines and news articles.

When my business was computerised in the mid-nineties, I began to collate this information for my own use and soon realised how useful it could be to others. In late 1999, a good idea met an opportunity when I was approached to sell my forklift dealership. By this time the internet had developed into a fantastic medium for the quick dispersal of information globally. Since selling the forklift business I have been working on the Forkliftaction.com concept and have put together a team of IT and materials handling professionals to create an international industry portal that will give IT savvy MH professionals an opportunity to interact with their customers and suppliers on a local and international scale.

Whether you use a materials handling fleet or are a dealer or manufacturer of materials handling equipment, Forkliftaction.com will evolve to become your one essential tool to locate relevant information and products and services. The flexibility of the internet means Forkliftaction.com will continually add new features and information and the site will be regularly updated.

The Forkliftaction.com concept is new to our industry and new for me. I trust you will see its potential for your business support us. We don't expect our early days to be without challenges and we welcome input and suggestions from you. This is a place for all participants in all facets of materials handling, and I hope you become as passionate about it as I am.
