The Davies Turner freight and logistics hub in Bristol has installed three Linde K-range very narrow-aisle forklifts as it needed forklifts that could lift over 16 metres (52.5 feet).
The new hub comprising of two warehouses occupies 21,000m² (226,042sqft) and employs over 100 people. The Linde equipment operate at a site having about 15,000m² (161,459sqft) of storage space, housing 8,000 pallet locations in high bay racking and four mezzanine floors for pick-packing and order-sorting.
To maximise floor space, the warehouse is racked right to the building's eaves and the mezzanines are built above the ground-floor dispatch area.
Roger Lucy, director for Davies Turner, says the company chose Linde forklifts for their suitability to the warehouse application. Configuration software was used to analyse the site and application requirements before providing a match from a potential 500,000 permutations. Being of modular design, the forklifts' major components and truck system were chosen to match the application.
"Linde was able to meet the specific requirements that we had in Avonmouth," Lucy says. "They helped us gain maximum benefit from our new building and I am very pleased with the final outcome."
