Given the large and growing global forklift fleet, it's not surprising that machines end up in the wrong hands from time to time.
Almost monthly, we see reports of forklifts used in robberies and break-ins; more often than not, in attempts to break into or remove ATMs. We don't recall seeing any mention of ATM handling capability in the specs of any new machines, and yet people still try - unsuccessfully - to steal cash dispensers using forklifts.
This week's inappropriate use of machinery ended in a rampage through a lumber yard. The driver has been arrested, but it's still not clear which particular capability of the forklift she was trying to deploy.
