This week's newsletter includes a few reports of large crane orders. We've previously explained that even though they might not seem to fit in with the name of our newsletter and portal, cranes are vital pieces of materials handling equipment and play a significant role in global supply chains. And, of course, a few of the large players in the crane market are also influential in the supply of smaller machines, including container handlers and forklifts.
Another reason for our regular reporting of large orders is the financial impact. While forklifts sell for tens of thousands of dollars or Euros, cranes can attract price tags in the hundreds of thousands and it's not hard to exceed a million bucks with a mid-range order.
Finally, crane sales are a good barometer of economic activity. When ports, equipment hirers and construction companies are buying new cranes, it generally means business conditions are buoyant across multiple sectors - which is great news for other materials handling suppliers.
So, sit back and enjoy this week's coverage - including some decent deals around the globe.
