Owners of diesel fleets will no doubt be intrigued by the drama playing out for Volkswagen and its customers.
For anyone who missed it, the German carmaker has admitted to cheating on emissions testing to ensure its engines meet regulations in the US.
It appears that the cheating is limited to one company and only to its passenger vehicles, but there is no doubt that all diesel engines will come under closer scrutiny.
There are already signs of long-term consequences, with engine manufacturers fearing more costly regulations in the wake of the scandal.
