It is interesting to read this week about the growth of the equipment rental market. This week’s newsletter includes details of the latest global survey which indicates significant growth last year in equipment rental revenues. That report follows a number of recent reports of expansion and growth among equipment rental businesses in various markets.
The spike in rentals may be a reaction to the global financial crisis, with businesses opting to rent rather than buy equipment for short- and medium-term needs.
Rental, of course, makes sense when times are tough and organisations are keen to sharpen their balance sheets. It is also a prudent approach when there is uncertainty and operators are unable to bank on future orders or revenue levels.
Again, it’s an indication that while things may slow down in one market, they usually pick up somewhere else.

"The biggest impediment to warehousing and material handling in the United States is the 40" x 48" GMA double faced pallet. The single faced Euro pallet allows for the use of fork over stackers which can be used in all warehouse settings, can do everything a pallet truck can do plus stack pallets. It is as maneuverable as a pallet truck at a fraction of the cost of a conventional forklift truck.".

"The reference you cited contained one line that was most likely the source of the statement that the acronym "TEU" is no longer the STANDARD for containers as more and more are shifting to the fourty-foot "FEU" size. Wikipedia isn't necessarily "authoritative", but I suspect that's where my information came from. And, that's what I was looking for in the first place. ".

"Our company is thinking about switching from laptops to iPads. Totally dropping the laptops. I've read some articles that there are plusses and minuses to iPads and that people still use both. Anybody have any real time experience with iPads?".
