There’s been a lot of interest in last week’s report on the growth in the Chinese forklift market in 2010. Some of the attention, unfortunately, centred around an error in the original report by research agency ResearchinChina. In particular, it was the claim that “all of the world’s top 20 forklift manufacturers - except for US-based Crown Equipment and Irish manufacturer Combilift - had entered the Chinese market”. Of course, as reported in Forkliftaction.com News, Crown Equipment Corporation has been in China for some time, opening a manufacturing facility and sales operation in Suzhou in December 2006. Following our contact, ResearchinChina informs us that it has updated its report to reflect this fact.

"Many young people understand the industry better than a lot of their older counterparts because this is now a changing industry. How people monitor trucks, how people look for trucks and even how we all talk about the industry to one another is now on the internet.".
    Daveilift, United Kingdom
"AC motors will eliminate the brush issues but create new issues - like transducer problems the DC motors don't have. Engineering new technology is always a compromise at best. You can't beat routine and PROPER maintenance by a knowledgeable, trained & professional person. ".
    johnr_j, United States
"The customers I have that have the problem of operators hitting columns take it very seriously. After the second or third time, they aren't driving a forklift anymore. They force everyone to slow down if it is a persistant problem and then go after the ones driving too fast.".
