1.JLG TO UNVEIL NEW TELEHANDLER AT CONEXPO
------------------------------------------
McCONNELLSBURG, United States JLG Industries Inc will unveil a special "made-for-Europe" telehandler at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2002 in Las Vegas from March 19-23.
JLG president Bill Lasky said the telehandlers were based on a line developed, but never released, by F Weyhausen & Co KG GmbH, based in Wildeshausen, Germany, which manufactures Atlas wheel loaders and other equipment. The terms of the agreement between JLG and F Weyhausen were not disclosed.
The telehandlers would be manufactured in Maasmechelen, Belgium, with European-sourced components, and support would be provided by JLG's European sales and service network.
"Consistent with our long-term strategy to seek new revenue streams built on JLG's existing strengths, the addition of our new telehandler line further expands JLG's offerings to Europe," Mr Lasky said.
Rather than adapting the existing USA design, the European line was developed to meet the specific requirements of that market, incorporating many new features.
JLG produces mobile aerial work platforms, material handlers and telescopic excavators under the JLG and Gradall brands. JLG's manufacturing facilities are located in the USA and Belgium, with sales and service locations worldwide.

2.RONCARI LAUNCHES IN USA THROUGH ULHS ALLIANCE
-----------------------------------------------
HOUSTON, United States Unit Load Handling Systems (ULHS) will distribute Verona, Italy-based Roncari Forklift Attachments products as part of an agreement reached by the two companies this month.
A ULHS statement said the sales, service and marketing arrangement is the first thrust into the US attachment market for Roncari, which produces standard and specialised forklift attachments in a range of capacities.
Roncari's "intelligent clamp" system which reduces damage to appliances and cartons, and its "total visibility" design concept, which maximises load visibility and is standard on all its European attachments, will both be launched in the US.
ULHS, established in 2000, distributes niche products, including Columbia Machine, US Attachments, John Harder Co, Fielden Handling and Hydraux attachments and automated handling lines. The Roncari agreement means ULHS has the broadest attachments range in the US, the company says.
Over the past decade, Roncari has expanded into other European countries, Australia, and the far east. The company specialises in attachments for the paper, grocery, forging, metals and concrete industries, and produces intermodal container handlers and ship-to-shore handling accessories.

3.BRUDI SALE WON'T AFFECT AUSTRALIA: LONG REACH
-----------------------------------------------
HOUSTON, United States Long Reach Inc president Bill Sample says the January sale of palletless handling maker Brudi (Forkliftaction.com News #42) did not include the brand name or trademark for Brudi in Australia.
Mr Sample said Auramo-Bolzoni acquired rights to the Brudi brand, along with the Brudi "push-pull" product line and associated spare parts "for worldwide use with the exception of Australia", where products and spare parts are sold by Long Reach Brudi Pacific in Adelaide, South Australia.
"This is a very important distinction applicable to the sale of forklift attachments in Australia," Mr Sample said.
Long Reach Brudi Pacific director Ian Budenberg assured Australian forklift buyers that his company was still the leading Australian outlet for Brudi products and spare parts.

4.FORKLIFT DRIVER SURVIVES FLOOR COLLAPSE
-----------------------------------------
LINCOLN, United States A forklift driver suffered only cuts, bruises, and sore muscles, after he and his forklift fell from the first to the ground floor of a building on March 6.
Richard Defedele, 20, pulled himself out of a rubble of floorboards, beams and shelving after the floor gave way in the Lonsdale Mill, which was built in 1901. No one was on the ground floor when the accident happened, The Providence Journal reported.
Defedele was using the forklift to move metal shelving in the warehouse of a furniture and office equipment supplier when the accident happened. Fire chief Tim Griffin said Defedele, who was "really shaken up", was lucky to escape serious injury. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
