Lomé Container Terminal (LCT), in the Western African country of Togo, is preparing to increase its operational capabilities with the imminent delivery of two reachstackers and seven empty container handlers.

Expected in Q2, the materials handling equipment will be delivered by manufacturer and long-term terminal partner, Konecranes, and will replace older equipment at the terminal.

The terminal currently operates a fleet which includes 32 Konecranes rubber-tyre gantry cranes with the new equipment order supplied by Konecranes’ regional distributor Paterson Simons, which provides sales and after-sales support for lifting equipment across West and Central Africa.

Konecranes says the two SMV 4632 TC5 reachstackers will be used for container handling operations across the yard while the seven SMV 7/8 ECC90 empty container handlers will support efficient stacking and repositioning of empty containers.

The Lomé Container Terminal opened in 2014 and serves as a transshipment hub for the West African coast.
