The creators of the UK's only nationally agreed framework for the delivery of forklifts' Thorough Examinations have launched an interactive online guide to help companies stay within the law.
Designed to simplify and encourage legal compliance, the new Consolidated Fork Truck Services (CFTS) website
(www.thoroughexamination.org) hosts several interactive tools.
CFTS chairman Simon Emery says the new site has been specially created with the needs of managers and supervisors in mind. "With so much legislation to consider, ensuring your truck is up to the law can be a full-time job. However, for many managers out there, keeping trucks legal comprises a small portion of their day."
There is now a range of web applications to quickly answer the most common questions from users on the subject of Thorough Examinations. Users can find out when their forklift's next examination is due, discover which parts of the forklift will be inspected, watch an informational video and identify accredited companies in their area.
CFTS Thorough Examinations have been specifically designed to address the needs of forklifts. It guarantees a truly comprehensive inspection that complies with both of the two main pieces of legislation governing the use of forklifts in the UK - LOLER 98 and PUWER 98.
CFTS was developed by the British Industrial Truck Association and the Fork Lift Truck Association, working closely with the Health & Safety Executive.
Over 300 UK companies have become accredited to CFTS. To check if the company that carries out your Thorough Examinations is accredited to CFTS, or to find out more about the CFTS scheme, visit
