TMHA's Steve Takacs has announced he is retiring

Steve Takacs, president and CEO of Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA), has announced he will retire effective July 1.

Takacs started his near 40-year career in materials handling when he joined Crown Equipment Australia as an electrical fitter and mechanic in 1987.

There he rose through the ranks to become a major account manager, and ultimately, general manager rentals Australia and Asia-Pacific.

In 2007, Takacs joined Toyota Material Handling Australia as executive vice president and chief operating officer, and was named president and CEO in 2018.

“I wish to thank everyone at TMHA for the support and loyalty they have shown me for almost 20 years,” Takacs says in a LinkedIn post.

“I have made many wonderful friends in the forklift and material handling industry, and am proud of what I have achieved.

“Leaving a business as successful as TMHA/Toyota Forklifts is not an easy decision, but for me the time feels right. I am confident that TMHA’s highly skilled and hard-working employees will continue to see the business flourish and break more industry records.”

Takacs says he also owes a debt of gratitude to TMHA’s parent company Toyota Industries Corporation, for its support and the opportunities afforded to him through it.

“I look forward to my next adventure and spending more time with my family, who have been by my side throughout my entire career journey,” Takacs adds.
