Terex Noell Crane Systems (China) Ltd has received an order from Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) for 26 Terex rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) for USD40 million, its largest order to date.
PTP also has the option to add 32 more RTGs in the next eight months, after signing the contract for 26+32 RTGs on 25 March in Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia.
The Noell electric RTGs have a 5+1 height and 7+1 width lift capacity. The RTGs have reduced emissions due to their electric energy supply. All of the RTGs are expected to be commissioned in 2014 and will be used in Tanjung Pelepas.
Terex Noell Crane Systems (China) Ltd is a joint venture company that was jointly incorporated by Terex subsidiary Noell Crane Systems Group and China Merchants Group. Terex owns 70% of the company, and China Merchants Group owns the remaining stake.
Noell China, which established production in Zhangzhou Fujian Province in 1997, joined the Terex China Port Solutions division in 2012. It has become one of the world's largest port machinery manufacturers.
The annual throughput of Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas is about four million TEUs. Leading port operator Maersk owns about 30% of the Malaysian port.
