Terex Cranes has delivered 10 rubber-tyred-gantry cranes (RTGs), ordered by Cosco Pacific Ltd and state-owned Xiamen Haicang Investment Company, to the Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal in China.
The RTGs are part of a 20 unit order for the first phase of a port terminal contract that will meet growing container volumes in Xiamen, generated by China's booming economy.
"Our decision was greatly influenced by Terex Port Equipment's excellent reputation for robust, reliable performance. With container volumes through our phase one terminal increasing constantly, we were looking for cranes capable of matching our intensive handling needs in the long term," says Zhang Junsheng, general manager of Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal Co Ltd.
Terex Port Equipment general manager Maurizio Altieri says the company is proud that "Xiamen Haicang Investment Company and a world-leading group like Cosco have put their trust in [its] machines".
The eight-wheeled RTGs offer five-high in first row stacking height and six-plus-one stacking width. They have a maximum under spreader capacity of 40.5 T and a span of 23.47 m (77 ft.). Hoist speeds range from 23 to 53 m/min (76-174 ft./min) and gantry speeds from 30-90 m/min (98-295 ft./min). The trolley speed is 70 m/min (230 ft./min).
The order's value is confidential.
