Rotterdam logistics and stevedoring business C Steinweg - Handelsveem BV, has ordered two electric reach stackers from Kalmar, with delivery expected in Q1 2027.

The new reach stackers will be deployed at Steinweg-operated multi-purpose and breakbulk terminal locations to support daily cargo handling operations and ensure safe and efficient terminal performance. 

Steinweg currently utilises a diverse Kalmar fleet, including Kalmar forklifts and reach stackers.

Kalmar says the order, the value of which was not disclosed, includes a long-term care service contract

Dominic Gruszczynski, manager mobile assets with Steinweg, says Kalmar was chosen for the order because of its proven history.

“This decision was heavily influenced by the deep trust built over our four-decade partnership and their active support in transitioning our fleet to electric,” Gruszczynski continues.

“Experiencing the performance of the electric reach stackers first-hand confirmed that Kalmar can fully meet our demanding operational requirements, support our long-term sustainability vision, and reduce our environmental impact. 

“Furthermore, we are already exploring the next phase: electrifying our forklifts in the heavy range with Kalmar.”

Maurice Butin Bik, Benelux sales manager with Kalmar, says the partnership with Steinweg dates back to the 1980s when heavy diesel forklifts were supplied for stevedoring work.

“Today, we are proud to support their strategic decision to transition their fleet to electric solutions,” he continues. “We are excited to continue this journey together by exploring the electrification of other equipment as well.”
