SOCMA (South China Heavy Industry) has the successful delivery of what it says is China’s first domestically developed 72T capacity, ultra-heavy forklift.

The delivery was completed in May to Singapore-based Chasen Group at a formal handover ceremony held at the company’s facility in the Quanzhou Taiwanese Investment Zone.

Chasen Group is a specialist third party logistics, technical and engineering services business.

SOCMA states: “The 72T forklift is currently the largest-capacity forklift announced by a Chinese manufacturer, filling a significant gap in the domestic ultra-heavy material handling market and contributing to greater technological self-reliance in the sector”.

“This delivery marks a new starting point as the company continues to advance heavy-load handling technology and expand the global reach of Chinese intelligent manufacturing," it continues.

“This marks the first application of a domestically produced 72-ton-class ultra-heavy forklift in the precision instrument logistics field and represents a milestone for the industry.”

SOCMA chairman Guo Junyang, at the handover ceremony, explained the company has focused on the heavy-load material handling sector since its founding in 2010.

Chasen Group chairman, Zhang Deneng, explains his company specialises in moving high-value precision equipment for the semiconductor and scientific research sectors, where requirements for stability, accuracy, and safety are extremely stringent. 

The forklift had undergone testing by the Fujian Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute prior to delivery.

Deneng adds the new SOCMA 72T forklift will significantly enhance Chasen’s ability to handle ultra-large precision equipment, including photolithography machines and heavy-duty precision machine tools.
