Crown's RM 6000 was launched in February |
Crown Equipment Corp's recently introduced RM 6000 series narrow-aisle reach truck
(Forkliftaction.com News #500) has captured market attention.
While more than one market segment is responsive, "the food industry has been especially interested in the RM 6000," says Maria Schwieterman, a Crown marketing product manager. "We have had a significant number of RM 6000 series trucks onsite in a variety of customer locations."
Crown says the forklift is the industry's first pantograph model with a single rigid MonoLift mast and capability to reach 505 inches (12.6 m).
Schwieterman reports that numerous customers are "looking at the truck as a means of maximizing existing space and gaining greater flexibility throughout the warehouse."
New Bremen-based Crown declines to disclose RM 6000 pricing, which can vary depending on customer options. The product launch occurred in February.
Separately, on its PC 4500 Series center control rider pallet trucks, Crown offers a remote-advance system for order picking, also announced in February.
An operator can adjust quickly to a QuickPick remote-advance system.
"Showing operators how to perform the pairing procedure and use QuickPick . . . to remotely advance the truck can be done in a matter of minutes," says Rod Squires, a Crown product manager. "Experienced and skilled operators often become proficient at using the system over the course of one shift, while less experienced operators may take two or three days."
Squires notes that a Crown operator-training program includes a demonstration video on the remote-advance system.
