Keynote speakers confirmed for conferences

Lance Hockridge, CEO of QR Limited is one of the confirmed speakers for the ALC plenary session to be held 21-22 February 2011.
The inaugural conference of the Australian Warehousing Association will be held in conjunction with the Sydney Safety Show and Materials Handling Exhibition in Sydney on 26 October.

The conference theme is "Achieving success, sustainability and a safe working environment", and Peter Newman, Professor of Sustainability at Curtin University, has been chosen as the keynote speaker.

Newman is a member of the Board of Infrastructure Australia, a government entity that is planning and funding infrastructure for the long-term sustainability of Australian cities and industry.

Other topics on the agenda include:
• Fresh food and lifecycle distribution challenges – a Sydney Market perspective;
• Employing and terminating staff under current legislation;
• Warehousing and distribution benchmarks – 50 metrics to compare and use;
• The driverless forklift;
• Road transport challenges of today; and
• Warehouse layout and design flow concepts.  

Meanwhile, the Australian Logistics Council has confirmed a number of senior leaders as keynote speakers at the plenary session of its annual forum to be held on 21-22 February, 2011.

Among the speakers are Paul Little, MD of Toll Group; Mike Mrdak, Secretary, Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government (Canberra); Ahmed Fahour, MD & CEO of Australia Post; Michael Byrne, CEO of Linfox; Mark Rowsthorn, MD and CEO of Asciano; Lance Hockridge, CEO of QR Limited; Don Telford, Chairman of the Australian Logistics Council.
