Steve Simmons, joint managing director of Star Platforms, has been appointed chairman of the Access Alliance during the group’s recent meeting at the Genie production facility in Umbertide, Italy.

The Access Alliance is a group of independent access specialists working together in partnership to help UK-wide customers with their powered access projects, providing access to over 10,000 platforms nationwide.

Simmons says he is looking forward to his role as Alliance chairman, alongside the new vice chair Michelle Warren from Warren Access.

"We are a professional group who live and breathe powered access hire, with a focus on providing a first-rate service. The Access Alliance really works for customers and members alike. Members benefit from increased business levels and save money via the Alliance buying group, whilst our customers can be sure that they’ll receive the same excellent levels of service both locally and across the UK," he says.

Through its collaboration, the Access Alliance boasts a UK-wide network of 45 depots. Members hold similar values, principles and business ethics and are committed to providing well-maintained equipment backed with higher than industry average levels of service, according to the association.

Many members are IPAF- and PASMA-accredited training centres, offering training on all powered access and tower scaffold categories.
