Supply chain body apicsAU has changed its name to Australasian Supply Chain Institute (ASCI) and has established review panels to launch the ASCI Initiative.

"The new name better aligns us with the wider professional supply chain community which we serve," says CEO Pieter Nagel. "As an institute, ASCI is committed to facilitating and enabling the development and professionalisation of the Australasian supply chain community.

"Today, ASCI is announcing the ASCI Initiative – a set of foundational activities which have resulted from two years of comprehensive international research and future planning for the industry. This is the first in a series of announcements from ASCI as we position ourselves to bring this value proposition to members," he adds.

Established in Australia in 1963 as a not-for-profit organisation, apicsAU, now trading as ASCI, provides formal education programs, site visits, research, industry presentations and peer learning to its members with a range of opportunities to enrich and grow professional supply chain performance and competence. ASCI offers APICS certification programs as well as other international supply chain management certifications in Australia.

ASCI membership is available to individuals and corporates and provides access to educational programs, a network of industry professionals, real-world learning opportunities, resources and social media networks.

The announcement was made at the Smart 2017 conference and exhibition which got under way at Sydney’s International Convention Centre yesterday and ends today.
