Moffett truck-mounted forklifts are marketed under the Hiab-Moffett brand while Moffett Engineering Ltd has been renamed Cargotec Ireland. |
Moffett Engineering Ltd, which makes Hiab Moffett truck-mounted forklifts and is a part of Cargotec Corp, has changed its name to Cargotec Ireland.
The company, which celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2010, started its business developing products for the local agricultural market. In the mid-1980s, it invented the truck-mounted forklift, a three-wheel drive machine that can be carried on trucks or trailers, without the loss of load space. In 2000, it became part of Cargotec.
Today, the truck-mounted forklifts are marketed under the Hiab Moffett brand. The branding of the forklifts and the company name change are in line with Cargotec's branding strategy.
In 2009, the Moffett trucks were the first Cargotec-owned product line to change under its rebranding strategy. The forklifts started being promoted under the Hiab name and with the Cargotec logo. A month later, Cargotec announced it was merging its Hiab and Kalmar business areas. The combined business area is now known as the "industrial and terminal" business area and is headed by former Kalmar president Pekka Vauramo.
Staff at Cargotec Ireland's Dundalk facility celebrated the unveiling of the new Cargotec signage last Friday with an employee function.
The Dundalk facility is a hub for truck-mounted forklift R&D, a global spare parts centre and the primary multi-assembly unit for all Hiab Moffett truck-mounted forklifts.
