Hyster launches truck
Fleet, United KingdomHyster Europe has launched the new LO2.0-2.5 low-level order picker that has been developed to optimise the speed and ease of picking from both sides of a warehouse aisle.
First showcased at CeMAT 2011, Hyster Europe says one of the truck's most notable design elements is its "man to goods" proximity and a reduced-height work platform that saves time in the picking operation. The truck has an "easy to operate scooter control with fingertip controls to use when on the platform".
Tesco trials lithium-ion forklift
United KingdomThe Jungheinrich EJE112i pallet truck, which the German manufacturer claims is to be the first lithium-ion powered forklift to be commercially available, has been bought and is being trialled by UK supermarket chain Tesco.
The truck, launched at CeMAT 2011 in May, will be used in one of Tesco's main distribution centres. Tesco spokesman Richard Ash says the company "is taking up the environmental challenge and is striving to reduce carbon emissions across [its] business".
GIIC receives first Hyundai
Manama, BahrainGulf Industrial Investment Company (GIIC) in Bahrain has received its first 16 T Hyundai forklift. According to business portal TradeArabia, Hyundai Heavy Industries' sole distributor in Bahrain, Motor City, delivered the forklift at a ceremony held at its Ma'ameer site.

Linde presents BlueSpot
Hamburg, GermanyLinde Material Handling has introduced its BlueSpot visual driving path warning device.
With a patent pending, the BlueSpot device ensures safety in warehouse aisles and also in unclear cross-over areas. It consists of two energy-efficient LED lights attached to the top of the driver's protective roof frame. The lights project a large blue spot onto the floor a few metres ahead in the direction of travel, warning pedestrians who are approaching. The spot can be lit up constantly or can flash to attract attention.
