Cavotec's PowerAccESS battery systems for crane operationsSwiss-headquartered global engineering group Cavotec, has launched its new modular and mobile energy storage system PowerAccESS, which it says supports the electrification of port crane operations.
The system was developed to provide reliable zero-emission power for rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes during block changes as a one-to-one replacement for diesel generators.
Cavotec says the PowerAccESS battery system can also be integrated into existing crane systems as a hybrid power solution, enabling more efficient and sustainable operations.
The modular design allows crane manufacturers to configure the system to their specific requirements while benefiting from a standardised, future-ready platform.
Key features include LiFePO4 batteries for enhanced safety, scalable battery capacity from 62 to 494 kWh, designed to operate in harsh marine environments and zero local emissions and low noise operation.
It also offers 24/7 remote asset monitoring through Cavotec Connect and is supported by Cavotec’s global service team.
“PowerAccESS represents another important step in Cavotec’s commitment to supporting the transition towards more sustainable and efficient port operations,” says Laurent Dupuis, VP product management at Cavotec.
“The system has been designed to give crane manufacturers and terminal operators a flexible and scalable solution that reduces emissions while ensuring reliable performance in demanding operating conditions.”
