Multiway delivers multi-model autonomous forklift solutionMultiway Robotics has delivered an end-to-end intelligent warehousing solution—including multi-model autonomous forklift coordination and high-bay storage automation—for a leading Malaysian manufacturing business which says it has resulted in a 30%-plus improvement in storage density.
Chinese-headquartered Multiway explains the unnamed Malaysian client was expanding its operations and faced increasing warehouse management challenges because of growing storage demands, the rate of categories it produced and its frequent inbound and outbound activities.
To support future business growth, the customer wanted an intelligent warehouse solution which could maximise space utilisation, optimise material flow, and improve inventory visibility.
The project covered more than 5,000 storage locations across multiple operational areas, including raw material storage, finished goods warehousing, material preparation zones, and quarantine areas.
To address the customer's automation requirements, Multiway Robotics developed an intelligent logistics solution integrating autonomous forklifts with its proprietary warehouse management system (WMS) and robot control system (RCS).
Multiway says the solution it deployed enables automated operations across the entire warehouse workflow, including an autonomous forklift fleet for multi-scenario operations, material preparation and internal transportation and finished goods storage and shipment.
Three autonomous forklift models have been deployed and now work collaboratively - a very narrow aisle (VNA) forklift, an autonomous pallet truck and an autonomous empty pallet stacker.
The MW-K16 autonomous VNA forklift has been designed for high-density storage environments, and can work in aisles as narrow as 1,750 mm. The forklift supports lifting heights up to 9m, enabling efficient high-level pallet storage and retrieval.
The X20 autonomous pallet truck handles automated pallet transportation between receiving areas, production staging zones, picking areas, temporary storage areas, and shipping areas, ensuring smooth and continuous material circulation.
The MW-SL14 autonomous stacker automates empty pallet stacking, de-stacking, and transfer operations, further improving warehouse automation levels.
All three forklift models support 24/7 operations with automatic charging and multiple safety protection systems, including obstacle detection, anti-collision protection, emergency stop functions, and sound and light alarms.
Multiway says the deployment helps the customer build a more efficient, transparent, and scalable warehouse system to support long-term manufacturing growth.
