Meijer Group director Hendrik MeijerForklift attachment maker, Meijer Handling Solutions, has increased its production capacity with an additional 300 sqm of production space and robotised deep-drilling machines, as it invests EUR5 million (USD5.9 million) in its Sint Jacobiparochie site.
“This prepares us for the rising global demand for intralogistics and truck-mounted forklift solutions,” parent company Meijer Group states in a LinkedIn post, adding it also confirms its confidence in the future and its own long-term ambitions to grow internationally.
“Our goal is to continue to meet the growing demand from both existing and new customers,” says director Hendrik Meijer. “By investing in advanced automation and robotics, we can address the growing shortage of skilled labor and keep production in Western Europe competitive.
“We are also implementing smart AI applications to streamline quotation processes, customer service, and production planning.”
Meijer already has automated guided vehicles (AGVs), welding, milling and bending robots working at Meijer Metal.
The company adds Meijer Handling Solutions’, with its new robotic production cell, “will largely automate our advanced deep drilling process”, which it expects will increase efficiency, reliability, and consistent product quality.
The additional production capacity takes total space to 17,000 sqm.
“As a 100-year-old family business with roots in the Bildt region, we think in terms of generations, not quarters,” the Meijer Group states. “We continue to invest in our people and equipment to stay ahead in our industry and remain an attractive employer.”
Meijer Handling Solutions is the manufacturer of KOOI fork products.
