Logistics and supply chain encouraged to take part in ALAN surveyThe American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) is calling for those working in the logistics and supply chain sectors to undertake its 2026 Humanitarian Logistics survey, so it can better help coordinate and provide logistical relief when and where it’s needed.
ALAN undertakes its Humanitarian Logistics survey annually to capture a snapshot of the industry’s “capacity, challenges, and readiness” to help in the case of a humanitarian or natural disaster.
“The results of these surveys enable us to identify challenges within and across sectors and allow us to better serve disaster survivors,” ALAN states. “Each response will go a long way toward providing us with the input needed to continue improving outcomes for disaster survivors.
“Your responses help shape the resources, partnerships, and strategies that strengthen disaster response before the next crisis hits.”
Last year’s ALAN Humanitarian Logistics survey revealed 50% of non-profit respondents face logistics challenges every year, which creates gaps that then slow the response and raise costs, while 70% say better funding and stronger logistics relationships would make the biggest difference to improving their impact.
“77% of non-profit respondents reactively arrange logistics services through soliciting donations or purchasing them at the time of need,” ALAN found while “46%…spend under $25,000 annually on logistics activities, leaving room for partnership investment to multiply impact”.
The key takeaways from last year’s survey was that partnerships close critical logistics gaps, expertise drives smarter logistics and capacity funding multiplies impact.
