H&K Equipment, a US-based, full-service material handling dealership, is set to open a new branch in Huntington, West Virginia.

Having established a presence in the state in 2020, and since moved to a new building in Beverly, the announcement means the company will now have two facilities in West Virginia. 

Located near the Ohio River, the new branch features 5,000 sqft. (464.5 sqm) of planned office space and 20,000 sqft. (1,858 sqm) of planned shop and service space. According to the company, the move-in is scheduled to be completed by the (northern) autumn.

“With two locations in West Virginia, our techs have the ability to reach customers faster, no matter where they are,” says Tom Doss, H&K's West Virginia field service manager.

“Ensuring our customers get their equipment back in the field fast will grow our reputation and lead to new opportunities with sales, parts, and even more service.”

The opening of the new Huntington branch coincides with the news that the company has been named as the new Hyundai Construction Equipment dealer for West Virginia, and in this way, has diversified into the construction equipment market.

According to H&K, the two developments are optimally timed for both companies. H&K’s Huntington location is coming online just months after the start of its partnership with Hyundai CE, and the new branch will serve as its primary home to sell and service the Hyundai brand. 

Aaron Boemmel, chief operating officer for H&K Equipment says that, while plans for the Huntington location were in the works before the company decided to expand from its core material handling and floor cleaning equipment business, the seeds of the pivot were already being planted.

“For years, our West Virginia techs have been answering service calls for a wide range of equipment,” says Boemmel.

“We had to look beyond our traditional base and start building a team with a more unique skillset and diverse experiences.”
