Battery manufacturer makes history joining BCICalifornia-based off-highway electric battery solutions provider Eneroc USA, has made history as the first lithium-only battery manufacturer to be admitted to the Battery Council International (BCI) in its 102-year history.
BCI was founded in 1924 when a group of US battery manufacturers came together to form what would become a trade association.
Today, BCI supports members spanning battery manufacturers and recyclers, distributors and retailers and raw material suppliers across North America.
Roger Miksad, president of BCI, acknowledges there has traditionally been a focus on lead-acid battery manufacturers, but this has increasingly grown to include flow, sodium, lithium-ion, and other emerging chemistries.
“In over a century, we have never had a battery manufacturer join whose business was built entirely on lithium technology,” Miksad continues.
“BCI exists to represent the full breadth of the battery industry, and welcoming a lithium-only manufacturer strengthens our ability to represent the battery industry, advance safety standards, and support America's energy security.”
Eneroc USA, the North American arm of China-based Eneroc, says its membership to BCI “is a natural step...and opens the door for other lithium specialists to engage with BCI's platform of advocacy, education, and industry collaboration”.
Sandro Pagliarulo, Eneroc USA CEO, adds: “Eneroc's joining BCI is a sign that lithium technology has matured enough to take its place within the broader conversation of power solutions driving electrification and energy transition”.
Eneroc USA says lithium shipments from BCI members increased 31% year-on-year in 2025.
“Lithium technology has moved well beyond early-adopter status into a recognised and established segment of the industrial battery market,” the business states. “BCI's membership is evolving to reflect that reality.”
