Brian Docherty with retiring Les FerrisIndependent Scottish forklift sales and hire company DGP Materials Handling, has acquired Blackburn West-based forklift sales, hire and repair business Lothian Mechanical Handling.
DGP managing director Brian Docherty says: “This exciting step brings together two companies that share a strong alignment in culture, values, and vision”.

Les Ferris, who has been with Lothian Mechanical Handling since it was founded in 1980 and now serves as its managing director, will enter retirement after 45 years at the helm of the family-owned business.
“We would like to thank him for his outstanding contribution and dedication to the business,” DGP states.
Lothian Mechanical Handling is a distributor for Combilift, TCM, Aisle Master’s articulated trucks, and Hako cleaning equipment.
DGP Materials Handling is a distributor for Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks, Combilift, Aisle Master, Logitrans, Baumann and Kalmar.
DGP says both businesses will now promote the Mitsubishi forklift brand and will continue to develop its other successful partnerships.
Headquartered in Glasgow, DGP was established in 1968 and offers forklift sales, rentals, driver training and maintenance and service.
