Trade show organiser Deustche Messe AG is boosting its commitment to the Asia Pacific region with new premises for its Japanese subsidiary and the appointment of a new, local Indonesian representative.
Deutsche Messe spokesman Brock McCormack says there are currently no plans to run a CeMAT event in Japan, one of the world's largest forklift markets, as CeMAT Asia is sufficient.
"CeMAT ASIA in Shanghai is the well-established and successful CeMAT event for the Asia Pacific region. It is already an excellent sales platform for Japanese forklift manufacturers," he explains.
Japan is an important market for the show organiser's events, especially its flagship CeBIT and Hannover Messe shows. The subsidiary's name has been changed from Deutsche Messe Japan to Hannover Fairs Japan.
Hannover Fairs Japan in Tokyo is staffed by four employees, and works with Japanese companies and individuals who want to exhibit or visit Deutsche Messe events worldwide. The company also works with trade associations and trade promotion agencies.
Meanwhile, Deutsche Messe's interests in Indonesia will now be represented exclusively by Jakarta-headquartered PT Pro Fair Indonesia, which is headed by Paula Yahya. It has three employees.
"With our new office in Indonesia, we have strengthened our presence in Asia. We will continue to work with Indonesian intralogistics companies at both CeMAT Asia and CeMAT Hannover," McCormack says.
Deutsche Messe's Indonesian presence was previously maintained via the German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The change reflects the Indonesian market's growing importance to Deustche Messe's trade fairs worldwide.
Deutsche Messe is also expanding its Hannover field service support team, with a liaison for its 10 Asia Pacific foreign representatives. Julia Zimpel, who has university degrees in Southeast Asian studies and Japanese language, and has worked in the Asia Pacific region, is now the Asia Pacific sales co-ordinator.
