Taiwanese-listed Delta Electronics has launched a new multi-port charging system which allows up to three automated guided vehicles (AGVs) to charge simultaneously using the one device.

The MOOVbase multi-port system has been designed for use in modern logistics centres, distribution warehouses, and e-commerce applications, Delta states.

The multi-port system is a single-phase charger which can control and regulate charging for up to three vehicles at the same time using an AC connection and a data port. 

Delta says the charger simplifies charging infrastructure, significantly reduces the space required and contributes to the optimisation of the material flow, adding the advanced integration of control is used to avoid load peaks and extends the service life of the batteries.

Daniel Dörflinger, general manager of Delta’s industrial and medical business unit battery charging solutions, explains automated warehouses and fulfilment centres are increasingly using AGVs to move goods but this creates its own problems.

“As the number of these vehicles increases, so does the need for charging stations – which not only requires additional investment, but also takes up valuable space,”Dörflinger continues.
