Cascade expands data-driven materials handling solutionsOregon-headquartered forklift and automated guided vehicle (AGV) attachments, forks and related technology producer Cascade Corporation, has acquired a majority stake in a technology company which specialises in 3D freight dimensioning on moving forklift and AGVs.
Austrian-based Cargometer has developed a number of dynamic freight dimensioning technologies including Dimension-in-Motion, Weigh-in-Motion and Scan-in-Motion which capture the length, width, height and weight of goods being transported while they are in motion.
Cascade says the investment strengthens its position in advanced logistics and data-driven materials handling solutions by combining the solutions of the two businesses.
“This investment represents an important step to expand Cascade’s smart and connected solutions portfolio,” says Davide Roncari, president & CEO of Cascade Corporation.
“By pairing Cascade’s material handling expertise and global footprint with Cargometer’s proven technology, we can deliver integrated solutions that help customers operate more efficiently and make better, data-driven decisions.”
Cargometer will continue operating as an independent company with its long-standing leadership team remaining in place.
Cascade says the partnership is also expected to support Cargometer’s expansion beyond its European base, with a particular focus on North America.
“Joining forces with Cascade allows us to accelerate our growth while staying focused on what we do best—delivering reliable, on-the-fly measurement and dimensioning solutions for modern logistics operations,” says Dr. Michael Baumgartner, founder and managing director of Cargometer.
