Chinese equipment maker Hangcha is looking to cement its position in the Brazilian market with the official opening of its new headquarters and warehouse in São Paulo.
Hangcha says it is another significant step in its 20-year history in the Brazilian market and signals an upgrade of its local service capabilities.
The new warehouse is three times larger than the previous facility, allowing for greatly expanded spare parts storage and finished machine inventory.
Hangcha offers its full range of materials handling solutions in Brazil, having first entered the market in 2006. In 2022, Hangcha established its Brazilian subsidiary, which it says, “rapidly captured over 20% market share”.
George Zhang, vice chairman of Zhejiang Hangcha Import & Export says: “This new warehouse is much more than a larger building and more inventory. It is a concrete commitment to the long-term growth of the Brazilian market.”
Hangcha says it will continue to invest in product customisation, technical training, and financial support in Brazil, enabling local customers to enjoy faster service.
Industry stalwart David Callis passes away

The industry is mourning the loss of David Callis
UK materials handling industry stalwart David Callis has passed away.
Callis was well known in the UK sector, having served on the BITA board of directors for six years and as a director of UKMHA for a further three years.
He was also a passionate advocate for CFTS, the sector’s Thorough Examination accreditation body, where he contributed as a board member for more than seven years.
Colleague and friend Derek Anderson says: “I first knew David as a senior account manager for a major supplier, and later when he joined the team at PowerCell. He approached both life and his career with a wonderful sense of humour, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he worked with.”
UKMHA joint president Simon Barkworth adds: “David was a true champion of our industry. His commitment, insight, and active contribution to the Association will not be forgotten. His passing will be deeply felt, and our thoughts and sincere condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
