Linde has filled the gap in its lithium-ion line-up, now accommodating this power source in its 6 – 8 T models. Safety company Pyroban has warned that hand pallet trucks operating in potentially explosive atmospheres have the potential to cause ignition. Many types of diesel- or electric-powered materials handling equipment, such as forklifts, frequently undergo specialist explosion-protection conversion by Pyroban for use in ATEX-classified Zone 1, 2, 21 or 22 areas. The KION Group benefited from sustained strong growth in the markets for industrial trucks and supply chain solutions in the second quarter of 2018. The group's order intake rose by 23% to EUR2.424 billion (USD2.8 billion), one of the main contributors being its project business for automated systems. Terex Corporation has reported strong second quarter 2018 sales of USD1.4 billion, up 19% from Q2 of 2017, with increased sales and backlog in all three business segments. Forklift prices look set to rise in the United States. Speculation is mounting after Crown Equipment Corporation announced it “will implement a price increase effective September 4, 2018”. There’s no indication yet of the size of that increase, nor whether it will be uniform across the range. Bobcat has announced the launch of its new Bobcat Institute, replacing the Training Center at the Doosan Bobcat EMEA Campus in Dobris, Czech Republic. A 58-year-old North Fort Myers man was killed when he was crushed between a forklift and a truck. James Padgett was stacking boxes onto a forklift in the driveway of Mader Electric Motors in North Fort Myers when a flat-bed truck, driven by Shawn Barton, 38, of Cape Coral, reversed and struck him. Padgett had his back to the truck at the time. Padgett was crushed between the truck and the forklift, according to police. He was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. ...
