Bobcat has announced changes in the dealers responsible for sales and service of its products in Yorkshire in the UK. Bobcat has appointed Grays Machinery, based in Bedale, as the new authorised Bobcat dealer for North and West Yorkshire. Meanwhile, AMS Bobcat Limited, based in Scunthorpe, will have its territory expanded to include South Yorkshire. AMS is already the authorised Bobcat dealer for Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire. The US Navy is preparing to leverage the forklifts that travel around its shipyards to enable an RFID- and GPS-based solution to track containers at four US piers. The system will enable the Navy to collect data regarding where loaded or empty containers are located, by reading passive UHF RFID tags on containers via RFID interrogators, in conjunction with GPS, mounted on forklifts moving around the yard. Jungheinrich and Triathlon Holding have come together to found JT ENERGY Systems, a joint venture focused on the production and recycling of lithium-ion battery systems. The company will be based in Glauchau, Saxony. The founding is subject to approval of the project by the relevant competition authorities. PALFINGER is reporting continued growth for the 2018 financial year, with revenue increasing by 9.8% to EUR1.6 billion (USD1.81 billion), a new record level in the company’s history. Workforce solutions provider Hamilton-Ryker is using virtual reality (VR) for forklift training through its newest division, TalentGro. The company is using VR Forklifts to assess proficiency and provide training to both temporary employees and clients' direct employees. Lisman Forklifts Asia will distribute Combilift and Aislemaster products in South East Asia. The two companies have reached an agreement which establishes Lisman as the South East Asia Distribution Hub for the Irish-built equipment. The UniCarriers forklift brand has entered the Guyana market through a partnership with beverage giant Banks DIH Limited. Banks DIH has been appointed a distributor, and UniCarriers forklifts will be supplied through the company’s automotive dealership. JCB is the top-selling brand of agricultural telescopic handlers (telehandlers) in the UK, according to data from the UK-based AEA (Agricultural Engineers Association). Lloyd Shoppa, former chairman of Shoppa’s Material Handling, passed away on February 11 at the age of 86. Shoppa’s last role was president of Bell Helicopter Textron. He spent 34 years with Bell, beginning in 1964 when he joined the company as a systems engineer. He retired from Bell in 1997. South Florida Container Terminal (SFCT) has ordered six Kalmar Zero Emission Rubber-Tyred Gantry cranes (RTGs). The cranes will be equipped with a busbar energy system and operator-assist features like auto steering and container stack profiling.
