Wages, shift preferences and more flexible HR policies are the key factors to attracting and retaining hourly warehouse workers, according to the 11th annual Warehouse Employee Opinion Survey released by industrial staffing firm EmployBridge. Pay ranked as the single most important factor among warehouse workers for the 11th consecutive year. Shanghai International Port has ordered 15 units of container handling equipment from Kalmar. The order consists of four reachstackers and 11 empty container handlers, with delivery scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2018. Modulift beams played a key role in lifting a 45 T boat into water for the first time at a harbour in Hafnarfjörður on the southwest coast of Iceland, about 10km south of Reykjavík. Icelandic crane rental company DS Lausnir chose a 250 T capacity Grove GMK 5250 mobile crane to lift the 5.5 m wide and 12 m long vessel from the dockside into the sea, upon completion of the manufacturing process. A dock worker was crushed to death by a forklift truck at Marina di Carrara port on Tuesday. The man, said to be around 40, was hit by the manoeuvring truck while loading a ship. He was immediately killed, according to people on the scene. The man's name has not been released. Yale Europe Materials Handling has confirmed that Stage V engines will be available for some Yale trucks from the fourth quarter of 2018. The new EU standards will come into force from 1 January 2019 for diesel and LPG engines from 19-56 kW and above 130 kW. Kalmar has received an order from Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), the leading European port and transport logistics group, for 10 new straddle carriers. This brings the total number of Kalmar straddle carriers ordered by HHLA in the last two years to 30. The value of the order was not revealed. A woman has been rescued after being trapped under a piece of equipment at a Habitat for Humanity home build. A spokesman for Rapid City Fire Department says units responded after a forklift tipped onto its side and trapped a woman underneath. Workers were using the forklift to lift trusses onto the house to build the roof when the equipment's tyres slid in the mud and it tipped onto its side.
