Discussion:
What’s the best or worst business advice you’ve ever been given?

Hiya everyone, we're trying something out at Forkliftaction...

We thought it might be fun to see if people are up for some light-hearted discussion around a general topic. This week its BEST and WORST business advice...

We are curious to know:

1) What's the worst business advice you've ever heard? Bonus points if you learned the hard way!

2) What's the best business advice you've ever received? A knowledge nugget so good it actually shifted your thinking or your business.

I am curious to see if there is more good or bad advice circulating out there ;)

So if you've got time for a quick story or one-liner, feel free to post a reply here.

What great advice to be given right at the beginning of your career as a technician John_Bradley, hats off to Billy Lester:)
Thinking about it, I'd imagine this advice has never been so important given the rate of product and technology development.

Thank you for passing this on, I am sure there would are young techs in these forums that can also benefit from this advice.

I had a mentor when I first entered lift truck repair business, he taught me more than just how to repair lifts he taught to share the knowledge with others that's one reason I joined this site and he always told me to
Take any service call I could even if I'd never seen that type of unit and to take any training that I could and to learn electrics.I was the service trainer at a dealership for 25 years
I retired after 45 years in the business
He also always told me trust in yourself
And your instincts. He was a great guy and a
Top notch tech ,gas , diesel or electric
Rest in peace Billy Lester
