Crown TSP 6500

The pivot cylinders on Crown TSP 6500 have a spring in them. When replacing the broken 100 chain link it's difficult to pull them out to have enough slack in the chain to install the master link. Does anyone know if the 6500 TSP pivot cylinder will work in a Crown TSP 6000? I ordered the wrong one for a 6000. I am wondering if I need to return it.
