NISSAN, ATLET LINK UP IN UK  AMSTERDAM, Netherlands Nissan
Forklift Europe BV and Atlet AB of Sweden have expanded
their cross-branding relationship into UK warehouse
products.
Under an agreement signed in June 2002,
both companies began cooperating in France. Now Atlet
will supply warehouse products under Nissan's label to
Nissan's UK distributor, Nissan Motor Ltd.
Atlet
and Nissan's German distributor, Fendt Fordertechnik
GmbH, this year signed a distribution agreement for
Atlet's other brand, Lafis. Atlet would also market
Nissan's counterbalanced forklifts in Germany, a
statement said.
Atlet, founded in Sweden in 1958,
has an annual turnover of EUR175 million (USD214
million). Atlet manufactures electric warehouse
equipment in Mlnlycke, Sweden, and Oberhausen, Germany,
for distribution in more than 30
countries.
Nissan's forklift business was founded
in 1957 and has global sales of more than EUR600 million
(USD733 million) a year. Nissan forklifts, manufactured
in Japan, USA and Spain, are distributed in more than 80
countries.

GOVERNMENT SUSPENDS BALKANCAR SALE  SOFIA, Bulgaria Bulgaria's
Privatisation Agency has suspended the sale of ailing
manufacturer Balkancar Holding and its subsidiaries
after a break-down in four-month negotiations with the
sole bidder.
Balcars Consortium, comprising
Bulgarian industrial conglomerate Industrialen Kapital
Holding and several of its subsidiaries, offered less
than the minimum price for the state-owned stakes in
Balkancar subsidiaries. The sale was suspended on
November 20, the Bulgarian News Digest
reported.
Currently, seven of the 14 subsidiaries
are majority-owned by Balkancar and seven by the
country's economy ministry. Balkancar has incurred
outstanding debts of BGL140 million (USD88
million).
But Balkancar Holding would sell its
stake in Afrocommerce of Nigeria, a joint venture which
manufactures forklifts, receiver Boyana Karaivanova
said. Balkancar's 20% stake in the venture is valued at
USD 63,000.
Ms Karaivanova told the PARI Daily
she hopes that, "by the end of the first quarter next
year, we will sell the holdings in Poland, the Czech
Republic, Hungary and Serbia".

SOUTH OF THE BORDER: ROLF SLOBOTZKY  MEXICO CITY, Mexico Toyota Mexico
has secured a USD5 million, 180-forklift sales contract
and, through it, given Cascade its biggest ever
attachments sale in Mexico.
Toyota will supply
180 6,000-pound, three-stage, masted IC forklifts to
Femsa, Mexico's largest Coca-Cola bottler, by December
31. Each forklift would be fitted with Cascade's single
dual-pallet handler, sources said.
Toyota also
secured a three-year, full service maintenance contract
with the sale.

DAEWOO USA LAUNCHES ONLINE PARTS SYSTEM  SUWANEE, GA, United States Daewoo
Heavy Industries America Corp (DHIAC) has launched an
online parts ordering system.
It allows dealers
to personalise purchase orders and is a new feature on
Daewoo's website, which already offers dealers 24-hour
access to parts information and manuals.
Dealers
can clone or search previous orders and check pending
shipments. Dealers can also keep orders open for
extended periods, and select a shipping method for each
part in their order. -

LENCROW STRIKES E-P DISTRIBUTION DEAL  SYDNEY, Australia E-P Equipment Co
Ltd, a Chinese manufacturer of pedestrian materials
handling equipment, has appointed Lencrow Group as its
Australian distributor.
Lencrow, a national
supplier and hirer of materials handling equipment,
secured the distributorship this month, general manager
Ross Grassick said.
"We were looking for a new
line of high-quality products to introduce to the
Australian market, and E-P was looking for a way to get
its products into Australia," he said.
"Out
national network gave them everything they were looking
for, and the quality of their products more than
satisfied our requirements. We're very excited about
getting these products into the
marketplace."
Lencrow has an extensive sales
network along the east coast, and 37 agents around
Australia.

TOYOTA TO STAND OUT AT IMHX  BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom Toyota
will have a significant presence at IMHX 2004 (March 2
to March 4), building on its successful exhibition at
the 2001 show.
Toyota will demonstrate its SAS
stability system, standard on Generation 7 forklifts,
and showcase its 24/7 electric range and Trailermaster,
which have been nominated in the 2004 Fork Lift Truck
Association awards.

Miles Griffin said the Toyota stand promised a
state-of-the-art look at how materials handling had
developed.
"Visitors will be provided with an
informative yet pleasurable experience that will allow
them to make better choices for their materials handling

CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR GAMES THIEVES  INDIANAPOLIS, IN, United
States Armed bandits have used forklifts to steal
hundreds of Playstation2 and Xbox game
consoles.
The robbers used duct tape to tie up
three staff members at an ETA Transportation
Consolidation Division warehouse, an Indianapolis Star
report said.
Police said the robbers were inside
the building for up to 30 minutes. After subduing the
staff, they used two forklifts to load six pallets of
consoles onto a truck.
Meanwhile, a manhunt is in
progress for thieves who stole three forklifts from the
back of a truck in East Kilbride, in the UK, the Evening
Times reported.
