FINNISH PLAYER LANDS FIRST EXPORT DEAL

TAMPERE, Finland
Thursday, 17 Oct 2002
Niche container handler manufacturer Oy Meclift Ltd has completed its first export deal, delivering two of its innovative ML3012R reach stackers to the Port of Beira in Mozambique.

Meclift general manager Keiji Kroger told Forkliftaction.com News that the deal, valued at EUR400,000 (USD391,380), was sealed after meeting the operations manager of Conelder de Mozambique, the country’s port authority, in Finland last year. Delivery time for the order was one year.

The ML3012R is the sharpest-turning (5490-millimetre turning radius) and narrowest (2850 millimetres) reach stacker on the world market and, with a 39-tonne gross weight, is designed to be hoisted into ships to move containers on deck.

Running a seven-litre Deutz BF6M engine through a Clark 3600 transmission, the machines can lift 30 tonnes up to 1200 millimetres high on their 2200-millimetre long forks.

Mr Kroger said Meclift, which was established in 1993, was now looking for distributors and sales agents around the world.
