FORKLIFT STARS IN WORLD RECORD HAM BISCUIT

SMITHFIELD, United States
Thursday, 29 Aug 2002
The world’s largest-ever ham biscuit, to be baked on September 28, will need to be cut in half by a forklift.

The biscuit, which will feed 1752 people, will be eight feet (2.4 metres) in diameter, contain 450 pounds (204 kilograms) of Smithfield ham and be baked in an oven five feet (1.5 metres) tall, 10 feet (three metres) deep and 10 feet (three metres) wide.

Ham biscuits, created by baking cooked ham pieces combined with biscuit dough, are a traditional favourite in the USA.

The biscuit is being baked by Smithfield residents to commemorate the founding of Smithfield, Virginia, in 1752, and as a celebration of the district’s pork industry, according to the News & Observer.
