Thursday, 3 Jul 2008
David Totten, branch manager of GAP’s Anniesland facility, takes delivery of his new forklifts from Jungheinrich UK Ltd’s John Cavanagh.
Jungheinrich is GAP Group’s sole supplier
MILTON KEYNES, United Kingdom

Jungheinrich will be the sole forklift supplier to plant and tool hire specialists GAP Group Ltd’s 58 depot locations in the UK.

In April, 20 diesel-powered, 3,500kg capacity counterbalanced forklifts were delivered while the remaining sites receive their forklifts in 2008/09.

GAP group procurement manager Ken Stewart says depot foremen participated in field evaluation trials of leading European and Japanese forklift brands before deciding on Jungheinrich.

With the total export valued at USD300,000, the delivery is the company’s first mass export, China Industry Daily News  reported.

Hecha Forklift was established at the end of 2006 by Hefei Duanya Group and manufactures over 30 product types. It sold 200 forklifts in April and plans to produce over 3,000 units by the end of 2008.

Triple-hybrid fuel cell technology wins award
PUCHHEIM, Gemany

Fuel cell developer Proton Power Systems plc’s wholly owned subsidiary, Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH, has received the Bavarian Innovation Award for its triple-hybrid fuel cell forklift drive.

Proton’s triple-hybrid technology manages the storage and output of power across a fuel cell, battery and super-capacitors to offer energy savings for stop-and-go vehicles like forklifts and buses.

The innovation was chosen out of over 100 nominations as one of the 11 best technologies in the Bavarian region.

Norco-supported group races to final
ABERDEEN, United Kingdom

The Norco Group-supported "Bankhead Blazers" finished third and won the "Fastest Lap" award in the Scottish heats of the IMecH Greenpower Formula 24 race sponsored by Shell UK.

Norco marketing manager Amy Davidson says the project involving electric car building and racing demonstrates the importance of electric power and how it can be used to improve energy issues.

Bankhead Blazers’ third place qualifies them to race in the national finals at Goodwood Motor Circuit on 19 October.

Industrial battery specialist Norco Group has been providing the team with support, parts and transportation.
