Forklift used in “Denmark’s biggest robbery”

COPENHAGEN, Denmark
Thursday, 17 Apr 2008
A forklift was used in what could be Denmark’s biggest robbery.

The Associated Press reported six masked men wielding rifles and submachine guns crashed a forklift through the wall of a cash depot in suburban Copenhagen and escaped with DKR62 million (USD6.3 million).

Investigators initially said the robbers stole about half that amount but have now revised the figure. They say it is Denmark’s biggest robbery ever.

Police also found 2 kilograms (4.4lbs) of plastic explosives at the scene, believed to be the robbers’ back-up in case the forklift failed to break through the concrete wall.

Details of the make and model of the forklift are not listed.

No-one was injured in the robbery.
