Toyota sets aim for Chinese sales

Toyota Industry (Kunshan) Co Ltd in southeast Jiangsu, China.
Toyota Industries Corp (TICO) aims to sell 12,000 forklifts in China by 2010.

That figure includes imported units. According to a TICO statement, Toyota Industry (Kunshan) Co Ltd in southeast Jiangsu, China, produced 1,562 forklifts and 42,421 tons of automobile parts in 2007. Toyota sold 3,221 forklifts in China in the calendar year 2007. Some were manufactured at Kunshan while the rest were imported from Japan and Sweden.

The Kunshan manufacturing site was established in August 1994 and operations started in 1996. Toyota Industries Corp owns 70% of the company, Lioho Machine Works, 25% and Toyoda Tsusho Corp, 5%.

There are over 500 people working for the Chinese company that manufactures and markets Toyota forklifts and automobile parts. The site covers 127,000 m² (1,367,016sqft) of land area and the forklift plant takes up 19,500 m² (209,896 sqft).
