Hurricane victims not forgotten
MILWAUKEE, WI, United States Thursday, 22 Dec 2005
US Gulf Coast hurricane victims are not forgotten this Christmas as the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has contributed USD100,000 to support affected agricultural and construction industry workers.
The North American-based group that serves the off-road equipment manufacturing industry wanted to ensure its industry’s workers received help to rebuild their lives and their communities.
Programs to which funds were contributed were selected on the basis they provided maximum impact in assisting industry sectors.
AEM donated USD25,000 to relief-related initiatives of the American Farm Bureau (AFB). The AFB fund helps farm and ranch families or their rural communities affected by the hurricanes.
Similar amounts were donated to Associated Equipment Distributors (AED), Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the North American Equipment Dealers’ Association (NAEDA).
AED has a matching-fund program for contributions to the American Red Cross and Salvation Army hurricane relief funds.
The AGC initiative involves financially assisting affected construction workers in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The NAEDA issues grants to assist Gulf Coast region dealers and their employees through the Equipment Dealers’ Foundation Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
AEM continues to assist members wishing to donate equipment, funds or services to the region. For more information, email Nick Yaksich at nyaksich@aem.org.
