BRISBANE, Australia -- An online venture for corporate customers to order forklift parts has paid dividends after launching only five months ago.
EMC Forklift Parts, a family business operating in the parts market in Australia and New Zealand, began emcgateway.com to expand its services to customers.
Systems manager Stefan Marschner said the internet served the parts distribution industry well, as customers could submit and track orders, and access personal account information and archived financial statements.
Mr Marschner said take-up of the new service had been "excellent" and the company had gained many new customers. He would not say how much the project had cost to establish, but said the amount outlaid had been recouped, and the venture was "providing good returns".
"A good proportion of our existing customer base is already using the service, and new customers are inquiring every week," he said. "Customers appreciate that, at any time of the day or night, they can log on, check their accounts and do business in their own time."
